Ramp Pre-Builds

Pre-builds are conducted indoors at our Fredericksburg workshop. Volunteers for this role will cut and preassemble ramp components for upcoming builds. No experience is required. Experienced volunteers will work with you. Men and women can participate. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. 

SUPERVISED BY:  Designated Project Manager 

 

DUTIES:

  • Check in at the shop in Fredericksburg on Wednesdays by 9:00 AM for a briefing, safety review and plan for the morning.

  • Follow all workshop safety procedures, clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Cut material required by listed Cut Lists

  • Assemble pieces as specified by the design.

  • Load finished material on trailers.

  • Clean up shop area.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have transportation.

  • Must wear closed-toed shoes.

  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds.

  • Men and women of all ages can participate.

  • No construction experience is required. Experienced volunteers and Project Managers will guide you.

  • Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

  • Must be a registered volunteer. Register at www.SAWsVA.org.

 

TIME COMMITMENT:

  • Approximately 3-4 hours twice a month or as often as you are able.

 

LOCATION:

  • 601 Lafayette Blvd (corner of Lafayette Blvd and Jackson St). Entrance is on Jackson St.

 

TRAINING

  • All tools and materials are provided.

  • Experienced volunteers will work with and instruct you.
