Site Surveyors
Site surveyors collect accurate measurements and characteristics of the site to determine the best design for the ramp to be built. The results of the survey will provide the raw data needed by the Executive Director to make a final approval to the project.

DUTIES:

Before visiting the site, confirm that the client has submitted a signed Client Release and Waiver of Liability and a Landlord/HOA Permission to Build Ramp form if applicable.

Gather all necessary tools, supplies, the Site Evaluation form, and client information (including name, address, phone number) prior to the survey.

Schedule an appointment with the client and arrange for another site evaluator or volunteer to accompany you. (Volunteers should never conduct a site survey alone.)

Address any questions the client may have at the time of the survey.

Discuss the ramp placement, property boundaries, obstacles, and power outlets with the client.

Prepare a sketch of the client’s property and proposed ramp path; have client sign the sketch indicating their approval.

Conduct the site survey by thoroughly completing the Site Evaluation Form.

Refer to the SAWs Virginia Site Evaluation Process document to assist you.

Return completed form to Operations Manager for review.

Clearly communicate that the site survey is not the final step in ramp approval; a SAWs representative will contact the client after the ramp design has been reviewed and approved.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be a registered volunteer. Register at www.SAWsVA.org.

Must have transportation

Must be able to lift 20 pounds.

Men and women of all ages can participate.

No survey experience required.

Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.

Dependable and detail oriented, with a high degree of accuracy.

Ability to visually inspect, document and measure the physical features of the site

Ability to use tools to collect data, Ability to work independently and follow specific instructions,
-
Familiarity with surveying or GPS equipment is often helpful but not required.

Training will be provided on the job.
TIME COMMITMENT REQUIRED:

Approximately 1 hour at location plus travel time.
