Communications

The role of this opportunity is to support the organization's mission by assisting with media outreach, public relations, and content creation for our digital platforms. The Communications role will help raise awareness of our work, engage the community, and enhance the organization's public image through storytelling and strategic communications. 

SUPERVISED BY:  Executive Director 

 

DUTIES:

  • Develop written content (press releases, newsletters, website copy), graphic design for social media or flyers, and multimedia content. 

  • Schedule posts, monitor channels for engagement, respond to comments and messages, and help develop social media strategies to increase followers and reach. 

  • Write and distribute press releases, act as a spokesperson in some cases, pitch stories to local media, and track media mentions. 

  • Assist with media coverage at events, take photos, and help promote events through various channels. 

  • Help develop and implement social media strategies and track the effectiveness of campaigns.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience with social media platforms and best practices.

  • Creativity and the ability to develop engaging content.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Passion for the organization's mission.

  • Skills in areas like graphic design, photography, or audio/video editing are often a plus.

 

COMMITMENT:

  • A flexible time commitment, typically 4 hours per week, depending on organizational needs and upcoming campaigns.

  • A minimum 6-month commitment, ongoing.

 

LOCATION:

  • This role can be performed remotely, though some in-person attendance may be required for local events.

 

TRAINING

  • Training and support will be provided for all necessary tools and communication guidelines.
